Justice and Mission

Oak Grove’s mission is to restore God’s creation by using our congregations’ resources and talents in service to our community and the world.

At the same time, we recognize our efforts will not succeed if we do not also fight for equality and social justice. In our eyes, justice and mission go hand in hand.

Mission and Outreach

Oak Grove is proud to be a leader among Twin Cities churches in our Mission & Outreach giving.

Social Justice

Many small groups within Oak Grove are striving to promote fair and just relations between the individual and society.

Supporting Our Ministries

We support our beliefs with our time, our hands, and our dollars. Here’s how you can participate.

Mission and Outreach

For several consecutive years now, Oak Grove has led our Presbytery with the highest percentage of our gifts going to Mission. We’re passionate about supporting those in need.

OGPC mission projects work to heal the sick, shelter the battered and homeless, feed and educate the needy, support small businesses, comfort the storm-ravaged.

Through prayer, we seek God’s guidance, blessing and support for all aspects of mission.

Recurring Mission Projects
Local Oak Grove Mission projects include:

  • Blood Drives
  • Support for local charities such as Bridging, Cornerstone, Loaves & Fishes, Meals on Wheels, Simpson House, Sheridan Story, and more.
  • Helping to organize and sustain local charities including Homework Connection, Oasis for Youth, and VEAP.

In addition to supporting the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance fund and the Presbyterian Education Board, Oak Grove offers financial support to the International Village Clinic (IVC) of India and Kiva.

In Guatemala we support the San Lucas Mission and the SLT Scholars program.

Mission Trips
Oak Grove offers mission trips every other year for youth and adults to allow members to perform mission work first-hand and see the world from a different perspective.

Social Justice

Oak Grove’s Social Justice Committee strives to promote social justice and the concept of fair and just relations between the individual and society.

Antiracism Advocacy

A certain percentage of our church income each year is donated to RestorativeActions.org, an organization dedicated to improving the wealth of  Afro-American and Indigenous communities. Our giving strategy has been profiled in the Star Tribune and by the Minnesota Council of Churches, among others.

LGBTQIA2S+ Equity

We are fully welcoming of LGBTQIA2S+ folks. Our restrooms are fully accessible for all genders. Members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and Allies are a part of our Rainbow Fellowship and work to support and provide resources for individuals and their families.

Environmental Justice

Oak Grove Church is becoming a net zero – carbon neutral building through conservation, purchasing or producing clean energy for 100% or more of our electricity, and offsetting carbon emissions of our natural gas and other fossil fuel use. Oak Grove is certified as a Presbyterian Earth Care Congregation.

Housing Justice

Oak Grove Presbyterian Church recognizes the problem of homelessness in our community. We support individuals and families in unstable housing situation and explores ways to prevent homelessness and create stability in our community. Oak Grove houses and provides support to OASIS for Youth.
