Jones, Mary Joanne (Jensen), age 78 of Bloomington, passed away on August 7, 2021, surrounded by family and listening to Beethoven. She was a graduate of Richfield High School and the University of Minnesota. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and her most important role, that of grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Andrew & Alice, and love of her life, C. David Jones. Survived by her brother, Tim Jensen (Susan), children Chris Jones (Heather), Julie Stewart (Adam), Jennifer Nienaber (Marc), and grandchildren, Erika, Sean, Allison and Charlie Jones, Kellen and Kenzie Stewart, and Sky Nienaber. Also four granddogs, Duke, Willow, Azzura and Zoey, whom she adored.
Mary was an active member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, MN. She was a writer and poet and enjoyed multiple book clubs and poetry groups. She was passionate about animals, particularly dogs. Mary was quick to open her heart and her home to others, whether it be her family and friends, her children’s friends, or the many dogs she babysat at Aunt Mary’s Dog Hotel—everyone always felt welcomed by her smile, her laughter, her warmth, and her stories.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her many, many friends, the pool ladies, her fellow poets and writers and the many dogs who loved her.
