Faith Formation (updated November 2021)
At Oak Grove we believe that growing in faith is a life-long journey, the heart of which is relationship – with God, with one another, the community and earth. The on-going pandemic has invited us to adapt our faith-forming practices of fellowship, learning and service to meet the needs of all ages. Zoom meetings are our primary means of being together for now, and hope and pray for the time when we can meet together again in person.
Children pre-school – 5th Grade
Children’s faith formation meets via zoom on Wednesday at 6:30-7:00 pm (pre-school – 5th grade) for stories, games, prayers and sharing. The link may be found on our Oaks and Acorn Facebook page or in our weekly announcements.
Sunday School meets by Zooom each week for fellowship, Bible stories, activities and prayer.
9:00-9:30 am – Preschool9:30 – 10:00 am — Kindergarten – 2nd grade11:15-11:45 am — 3rd – 5th grade
Youth
Youth 6th – 12th grades meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30 -7:30 at church. (Youth must be vaccinated, masked and distanced.) Our Confirmation and Senior High ministries provide youth with opportunities to explore faith through discussion, Bible study, service and activities.
Adults
There are multiple faith formation opportunities for adults!
Sunday morning, 11:15 – noon, via zoom – This forum offers a variety of speakers and topics to adults. We have hosted representatives from VEAP, from solar energy providers, local historians, and others passionate about mission or current events. The zoom link and information about the speaker is advertised each week in our announcements.
Wednesday evening Zoom, 7;00 – 8:00 pm. Wednesday evening gatherings are led by staff clergy and offer time for discussion. We sometimes read a book together or take part in a video series. Again, the zoom link and topic are listed in our weekly announcements.
Thursday Bible Study via Zoom – Noon each Thursday. You are welcome to join us for a look into the scripture that will be preached on the following Sunday. This is a very casual time with the pastor to share ideas and explore scripture together. Zoom link is listed in announcements.
