A group from Oak Grove will be participating in the Coldest Night of the Year walk in downtown Minneapolis to raise awareness of food insecurity and homelessness in Minneapolis, and to raise money for Agate Housing and Services. We will car-pool to downtown from the Oak Grove parking at 3:30 p.m. on February 24 and return to Oak Grove after the walk.
Look for the sign-up sheet in the Narthex to join the “walkers,” and for info on making financial donations to Agate.
Gun Violence Prevention & Legislation
As part of our focus on Gun Violence Prevention and Legislation in 2023, the Oak Grove Social Justice Committee invites you to send a letter to your federal and state representatives this spring, asking to enact sensible gun laws. We believe that this is a simple and accessible way to have our voices heard on this vital issue and to put our prayers into action.
For your convenience, we offer you a sample letter, modified from Moms Demand Action, to use “as is” or add/edit as you wish. We have found that having a template is very helpful in taking this step. The Social Justice Committee thanks you for taking action.
