LAUGHING FOR A CAUSE: VEAP Fundraiser to support our neighbors

Operation Metro Surge has left social services agencies across the Twin Cities reeling from the number of community members in need of food, rental assistance and other services. VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People), which serves the south metro, has struggled to meet the increased demands for their services. To support VEAP and our community, Oak Grove is sponsoring a fundraising event featuring the comedy of Bloomington native, comedian, and retired pastor, Bill Chadwick.
Bill Chadwick is a teller of tales, stand-up comedian, preacher, author, ventriloquist and girls’ basketball coach, but his favorite role is “Grandpa.” Bill has performed in dozens of comedy clubs, churches, and senior communities across the Twin Cities for the past six years. He is a regular at Excelsior 318 Café and Music Venue. His style has been likened to that of Kevin Kling. His book, Still Laughing, Still Learning (Still Looking for a Good Title): Mostly True Stories of Family, Friends, Faith & Foibles has sold out its first printing and has won multiple awards.
Bill’s family dates back to the earliest days of Oak Grove Church (five of the 11 charter members were Chadwicks). Bill grew up in this congregation and was ordained as both a ruling elder and a teaching elder here. He returned in 2009 as senior pastor and served ten years before retiring from full-time ministry. Daughter Anji works in the Oak Grove nursery. He and his wife, Kris Jacobson, currently live in Minnetonka.
Bill will be offering his comedy to raise funds for VEAP. This is a fundraiser, not a food drive. Admission is free, but financial donations are strongly encouraged. Don’t miss it, he’s really funny!
