God's Kingdom
Sunday mornings 9:15 - 10:15 AM
3 year olds - 5th grade

Oak Grove believes Christianity is a way of life. It means participating in a community where faith is experienced and shared. The God's Kingdom classes do more sharing than instructing, more interacting than reacting, more accepting than competing and are motivated by the love we feel within our faith community.

Sunday Mornings

God's Kingdom classes for
3 year olds -5th grade start at 9:15 in the Community Room, Lower Level.  This is a time to sing, share the joys of the week, and to learn the theme for the day's lesson.  After this 15 minute gathering the children then go to individual classes based on their ages.  Oak Grove uses the rotation style of teaching.  There are three rotations:  The Sharing Room, The Theatre Room, and The Creation Station.

THEATER ROOM- Lori Wasko
In the Theater Room for September we heard about David’s life and picked our favorite story to act out. In October we will take the 23rd Psalm and find and act out modern day meanings for the Old Testament metaphors. In November we will act out what Isaiah did when he answered God “Here I am, send Me!”

CREATION STATION-Pierce and Julie Flanagan
Welcome to Creation Station in God’s Kingdom as we learn about “ Who is Jesus, the Messiah?”  We are learning through arts and crafts the stories that are important in making Jesus the Messiah. Our first lesson focused on King David. Did you know that David was an ancestor of Jesus? We also learned that David was the inspiration for the Book of Psalms. We made framed Psalms. Our next lesson will focus on Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd….Come and help us create God’s flock.

SHARING ROOM –Karen and Alta Alonzi
In the Sharing Room, we’ll be talking about the role of the shepherd in the 23rd Psalm in October. We’ll discuss the concept of eating with our enemies and Biblical hospitality. Yummy stuff!  In November we’ll start learning about Isaiah. He led the people of Israel while they were in exile. Food plays an important role in defining a culture, and Isaiah’s people struggled to remain faithful to their dietary laws while they wandered through foreign lands. Who knows? We might even convince your child to try a new and unusual food! We welcome your presence in the Sharing Room.

PRESCHOOL ROOM—Jennifer Myers & Karen Gerdes
In the preschool room we began the year by introducing children to the Bible. We too introduced David to the children and will stay with Old Testament stories and Bible characters – Noah, Moses as a baby, dealing with the burning bush, and the Ten Commandments. We finish the month of November with stories about Joseph and finally the angel visiting Mary as we enter the season of Advent. Your children are learning to become part of a group of friends.
